Skully Vibes | Artist Biography


As adults we spend so much time worrying about whether we’re successful enough, productive enough, attractive enough, or living life the “right” way. We compare ourselves to people we barely know and carry expectations that were never really ours to begin with. It becomes easy to forget that we’re allowed to simply enjoy being alive. If we choose to look on the bright side, take it easy, and not beat ourselves up over small mistakes or vices it gets much easier. So many are stuck in a prison they have built in their own minds. Skully Vibes is an Orlando-born creator known for his vibrant, character-driven pop art that explores the duality of life and death with a joyful twist. Specializing in hyper-saturated digital illustrations and flat, meticulous acrylic paintings, he is able to reimagine classic skull iconography and transcend the boundaries of contemporary art through the universal language of cartoons. Skully seeks to provoke joy, freedom, and a sense of childlike wonder in his audience through his playful but technically demanding artwork that often features his signature characters. He loves that each person who views his work can connect with the characters, step into his immersive visual world, and find their own reasons to take it easy and simply enjoy being alive. 

From a young age, Skully was always drawn to art. Growing up just ten minutes from Walt Disney World in Orlando encouraged him to consider the ever-growing relationships we have with the oversized cartoon characters and candy-colored environments around us, which would later shape his immersive aesthetic choices. As a self-taught artist, he spent his childhood reading comic strips and drawing in his school notebooks rather than pursuing formal academic training. After relocating to Denver, a chance encounter with digital illustration on an iPad Pro during a dispensary shift break reinvigorated his passion for art and sparked a fascination with character branding. He began doodling cartoons on Post-it notes around his office, which eventually caught the eyes of the community and showed him a real path forward for illustrators. This digital foundation heavily shaped his early endeavors, but a desire to prove his craftsmanship in any medium - and combat the clinical rise of AI art - later led him to embrace physical acrylic painting. Meticulously working with tiny brushes to achieve flat fields of color, he embraces subtle brushstrokes and imperfections as vital proof of the human hand behind the canvas. Visually, his work continues to be heavily influenced by the Japanese Superflat movement and the visual world-building of artists like Takashi Murakami, KAWS, and Steven Harrington. 

In less than a decade, Skully Vibes has exploded into the contemporary pop art and cannabis lifestyle scenes. Over the past few years, he has built an impressive network of collaborators, teaming up with major brands and creators like Aaron Brooks, Soiku Bano, Olio, and Spherex. From 2022 to the present, he has achieved significant milestones, including winning the popular vote in the Olio dab tool design contest and co-releasing a collaborative original painting and subsequent print edition with Aaron Brooks. Skully's work has been exhibited across the country, from local staples like the Denver Art Society, Abstract Denver, Tetra Lounge, and the First Friday Art Walks on Santa Fe, to major festivals and events like the Union Peak Festival in Copper Mountain and Puffcon in Los Angeles. Most recently, in 2026, he completed a massive permanent mural installation for Dialed In inside Story Cannabis in Arizona. He now lives and works in Denver, where he continues to create artwork that fills his audience with feelings of positivity and happiness. In the future, Skully hopes to create an even more immersive experience through his work, dreaming of digital gallery installations that defy physics and bring his paintings completely to life.
